TOEFL Test Strategies
This is a very useful university/college preparation course, and it will help students develop the test strategies and key language skills needed to improve their scores in all sections of the TOEFL exam. The class involves practice testing, development of supporting skills, and extensive study of exam strategies.
In the reading part, students will practice things such as locating and matching information, distinguishing facts and opinions, and understanding gist and writer intention. Advanced-level texts will be studied to improve reading speed, develop analyzing skills, and build up academic vocabulary. In the listening portion, In the listening portion of the course, students will study how to find main ideas and details, determine speaker attitude and purpose, as well as make inferences and predictions. In the speaking and writing portions, both the independent and integrated tasks of the test will be discussed, and skills like summarizing and paraphrasing will be the focus.

English For Health Sciences
This course involves speaking, listening, reading and writing activities incorporating hundreds of commonly used terms and expressions relating to the fields of medicine, nursing, pharmacy and other health sciences. The goal is to familiarize students of health sciences with key field-specific language that is almost never covered in general English courses.

Accent Reduction For Spanish And Portuguese Speakers
This course will help students recognize the issues that they bring to English from their original language. By working on those areas and practicing the rhythm, intonation, and individual sounds of English, students will become clear and effective speakers of English. Regular speaking activities will provide opportunities for improvement of students’ spoken language. The goal of the course is improved pronunciation that does not interfere with communication and helps professionals be taken seriously.

TED Talks for English Language Students
This course involves extensive listening of professional presentations on interesting topics, followed by highly productive speaking and writing activities. TED Talk scripts will be studied to focus on useful vocabulary, and practice with this language will be given every session. Communicative activities will make sure students get a great deal of speaking and listening practice. The course is designed for upper-intermediate and advanced students.
